Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design, development, and testing of database features within our suite of cloud services, including Db2 on Cloud, Db2 Warehouse on Cloud, Netezza on Cloud, and upcoming Data Virtualization as a Service.
- Collaborate on creating tools aimed at ensuring a secure environment for customers utilizing our products in the cloud, emphasizing operational reliability and data safety.
- Assess and explore new technologies and processes that can augment and advance our service capabilities, staying attuned to industry trends and innovations.
- Document your experiences, insights, and best practices, fostering a knowledge-sharing environment within the team.
- Mentor colleagues, sharing knowledge and expertise to bolster their skill sets and contribute to the collective growth of the team.
Required Technical Skills
- 0-2 years of pertinent experience in software development.
- Proficiency in software programming languages such as Java, C, C++, Go, or Scala.
- Familiarity with scripting languages like Bash, Perl, Python, or Ruby.
- Strong problem-solving skills with an ability to resolve complex issues.
- Exposure to and understanding of best practices in software design, development, and testing.
- Knowledge of SQL databases such as Db2, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, or SQL Server.
- Understanding of Virtualization and Containerization technologies.
- Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes frameworks.
- Experience in utilizing Cloud Services, including IBM Cloud, Amazon Web Services, and Microsoft Azure.
- Knowledge of Linux/UNIX Operating Systems.
Preferred Technical Skills
- Knowledge of Compute, Storage, and Networking components within IBM Cloud, AWS, and Azure platforms.
- Familiarity with Red Hat OpenShift.
- Experience with LogDNA, Sysdig, or Prometheus for cluster analysis within Kubernetes environments.
