Job description:
We are seeking an Associate Product Support specialist who will be accountable for investigating an average of 10-30 job failures per hour. As part of your responsibilities, you will be providing support for a 50 TB data warehouse and managing jobs round the clock. Depending on the scheduling of other shifts and vacations, you should be prepared to demonstrate flexibility by working early or late shifts as required.
Responsibilities:
- Our organization maintains a vast array of interfaces connected to the data warehouse, supporting the execution of approximately 20,000 daily jobs involving data extraction and loading operations to and from the warehouse.
- Our team encounters an average of 10-20 job failures per hour, necessitating thorough investigation and research.
- We support jobs 24×7, so depending on other shifts and vacations, you need to be flexible to work early or late shifts.
- Each team member, once a month, works a 12 hour shift on Saturday and a 12 hour shift on Sunday (on the same weekend).
- The scheduled shift in Poland will span from 12:30 PM CEST to 12:30 AM CEST.
- We use JAMS for job scheduling, and Pentaho for ETL coding – you will need to learn the basics for these
- We are moving to the Google Cloud Platform (GCP), so it would be helpful to be familiar with it.
- Our primary tool of choice will be Cloud Composer, which leverages the capabilities of Apache Airflow.
- Having proficiency in Python is highly advantageous, as the jobs in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) will predominantly be written in Python.
- The data warehouse is Oracle-based, it is important for team members to possess a strong familiarity with SQL.
- Considering our heavy reliance on scripts, having knowledge of PowerShell and Linux shell scripting is highly beneficial..
- While we perform promotions through Subversion, it is not a prerequisite for you to have knowledge of Subversion. Our team conducts approximately 10-20 promotions on a daily basis.
Skills Required:
- Strong teamwork skills required
- Strong investigative / research skills required.
- It would be good to know Linux, because many of our jobs run on Linux servers
- Knowledge of vi would be helpful.
- Knowledge or regular expressions would be helpful.
- Having a foundational understanding of Windows administration would be advantageous.
- Having proficiency in HTML, JavaScript, and PHP would be highly beneficial as we have web pages that assist with our work.
- Being naturally curious and having a strong desire to continuously learn new things will be immensely helpful.
