Job description

The Rackspace Corporate Finance Team plays a crucial role in supporting Corporate Functions business partners by providing insights into their expense structure, managing expense fluctuations, and analyzing forecast-to-actual variances. As a Financial Analyst within this team, you will primarily focus on supporting Corporate Functions such as HR, IT, or Legal.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and manage the department’s annual budgeting process, including planning, preparation, input, and maintenance of company budgets and monthly forecasts.
  • Analyze and evaluate the department’s operating results and financial position to provide summarized reports and influence key financial decisions.
  • Develop and review forecasts for accurate and timely cash flow projections, expense projections, headcount, department performance, and direct expenses.
  • Work closely with Directors and VP’s throughout the budget development process, making recommendations based on financial analysis.
  • Handle daily tasks related to financial analysis, including analyzing relevant financial metrics, understanding trends, and meeting internal business needs.
  • Maintain high standards of deliverables and attention to detail while working under pressure.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively, demonstrating strong analytical skills and a structured approach.
  • Show curiosity about technology, a willingness to learn, and a solid understanding of financial concepts.
  • This role requires someone who can thrive in a fast-paced environment, is highly analytical, and can deliver high-quality work under pressure.
Key Accountabilities:
  • Provide guidance to corporate organizations regarding expense budgets and forecasts.
  • Take ownership of the full life cycle of the annual budget, from monthly forecasting to analyzing actual results, including variance analysis and reporting.
  • Assist in driving expense reduction efforts by effectively managing information and providing advice.
  • Continuously enhance processes and reporting to align with the requirements of senior business partners.

  • Maintain and enhance forecast-to-actual reporting.
  • Ensure business leaders make sound financial decisions to meet the company’s financial targets.
  • Evaluate organization profitability and margins using objective, data-driven analysis.
  • Enhance tools to improve business understanding of financial performance.

Person Specification:
  • Bachelors in Business Administration/Finance/Economics.
  • Masters degree or 1-2 years of relevant working experience highly desired.
  • Proficiency in budgeting, financial statements, cash management, and financial analysis processes is required.
  • Self-starter who takes ownership of issues and drives them toward a conclusion.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth, and fairly unstructured work environment.
  • Capable of both digging into details and analyzing data from a high-level perspective.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong interpersonal and networking abilities.
  • Team player with an internal customer-focused approach.
  • Works effectively under minimal supervision, providing updates on work performed as needed.
